Join us in this 8 week practice group to extend, enrich and deepen your practice. This in depth extended group practice will be led by two wonderful teachers Anthony Hopkins and Jenny Holmes. Anthony will lead guided practices exploring use of noting and deepening concentration, clarity and equanimity. Jenny will lead guided mindful movement and yoga practices. In stillness and movement, these core components of mindfulness training help reduce suffering and bring greater ease, clarity and connection.

In practice group this term there will be an emphasis on exploring the ‘See Hear Feel’ approach developed by Shinzen Young (called Unified Mindfulness). Much like Jon Kabat-Zinn (the founder of MBSR), Shinzen Young is a respected and highly developed practitioner himself who has developed his own methodology for teaching mindfulness. Like Jon Kabat-Zinn he also has a great interest in science, is deeply motivated to share mindfulness and reduce suffering and has helped very many people in his decades of teaching. There are very many complementarities with MBSR and both MBSR and UM point us in the same direction. They do develop and emphasise slightly different tools and ways of using the tools or skills of practice. They have different vocabularies and different things to offer us. This may appeal or be extremely helpful for some of us at particular times and not for others. These differences are actually one of the reasons we were keen to offer this opportunity. There is the potential for a range of practice approaches to enrich and extend practice and also to cater for a diverse range of experiences, needs and backgrounds.

The Teachers:
Anthony is a long time meditator, mindfulness practitioner and student of MBSR and Unified Mindfulness. Anthony can personally attest to the life changing potential of the MBSR course and has also practiced and led practice groups in other similar traditions for many years.

Jenny is an experienced mindfulness practitioner, MBSR teacher and yoga teacher-in-training with a deep interest in body based practices.
Jenny has been attending the practice group as a student and teacher since it began more than 10 years ago.

A note about fees
The program fee below covers all 8 sessions. If you can, we would appreciate it if you could pay the standard fee. If you are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID -19 or the bushfires we are happy to offer a reduced price. Please select the second option below. Participants can choose to do the practice group either face to face at The Gathering Place Dickson, or live online via Zoom. When you register you will receive a Zoom link in your registration email. You will also be sent a reminder email with the link a few days prior.
