Introduction to Unified Mindfulness 8 Week Program| Starts Monday 3 May, 2021
Venue: The Gathering Place (face to face only)
Time: 6:30pm-8:00pm on Mondays for 8 consecutive weeks from 3 May (including public holidays)
Whether you are new to mindfulness or interested in exploring new techniques and approaches that can deepen your practice and help you bring mindfulness into your daily life, you are invited to join Anthony Hopkins for an introduction to Unified Mindfulness.
Unified Mindfulness is a secular, comprehensive, systematic and interactive approach to teaching mindfulness designed by Shinzen Young, American mindfulness teacher, neuroscience research consultant and author of ‘The Science of Enlightenment’. It has resulted in collaborations with Harvard Medical School, Carnegie-Mellon and the University of Vermont in the growing field of contemplative neuroscience.
Anthony is a long time meditator and mindfulness practitioner who is currently completing his qualification as a Level 2 Unified Mindfulness Coach. This course offering is part of that qualification. As a consequence, there is no cost for teaching. Class costs cover venue and administration expenses only.
During this course, you will be introduced to signature Unified Mindfulness techniques that are uniquely adapted to daily life. The course program includes:
Week 1 – Introduction to Unified Mindfulness and the “See Hear Feel” technique
Week 2 – Relaxing and Recharging with Mindfulness using the “Feel Rest” technique
Week 3 – Mindfulness in Daily Life using “See Hear Feel” and “Feel Rest” Micro-hits, Background Practice and Formal Practice.
Week 4 – Going with the Flow using the “Feel Flow” technique and an introduction to Shinzen’s Universal Library for Training and Attention (ULTRA)
Week 5 – It’s fun to be Spontaneous using the “Auto Walk/Auto Move” technique
Week 6 – Feeling Good and the Magic of Music using the “Feel Good” technique
Week 7 – Applying Mindfulness to Inner Opportunities and Obstacles, adapting techniques to your circumstances
Week 8 – Wrap up: Your Unified Mindfulness Road Map
In addition to the interactive and experiential class program, you will be invited to engage in ‘homework’ which will be a formal mindfulness practice for 10 minutes each day, and experiments with informal mindfulness practices at other times during the day. This home practice will help you really test out various techniques, explore their benefits for yourself and set a foundation for ongoing practice.
