Come and learn to build inner resources so that you can make the most of the good moments with your children and steady yourself when the going gets rough.
Parenting is the most important and the toughest job in the world. The way we parent has such a profound impact on our children and yet where do we get our support, inner resources and encouragement from in this fast paced and pressured world?
Through practicing mindfulness we learn skills that reduce stress, improve concentration and at the same time help bring a reflective quality to our actions and our relationships. We become less reactive, especially in stressful situations and more able to choose how we want to act and be. We can increasingly use more of our mental and emotional energy engaging skilfully with what’s happening instead of becoming discouraged, overwhelmed or just plain grumpy.
Studies show a positive link between mindfulness and relationship quality. People improve in parenting (increases empathy and emotional self-regulation in parents) recover from conflict more quickly (measures of cortisol levels) and journey through breakup and divorce easier. Mindfulness also reduces the negativity bias (our tendency to focus on the negative) and improves physical health.
