World Yoga Day – Free Class

In celebration of World Yoga Day, you are invited to join us for a special FREE Mindful Yoga class! At this early morning class you can enjoy 45 minutes of gentle movement, stretching and breathing. This class is suitable for all skill levels and is trauma sensitive.

How to attend: You can choose from two attendance options. Join us face-to-face at our urban retreat centre, the Gathering Place in Dickson, or join us online (a Zoom link will be sent to you before the start of the class).

About Mindful Yoga

Mindful Yoga invites participants to mindfully attend to the body both in stillness and in movement. One of our regular participants says, "Walking to work after Mindful Yoga I feel taller,
lighter...the yoga sessions are really amazing. I'd wish one at least for everyone!"

Discover a way of connecting to the body in a kinder and more conscious manner. Cultivate your ability to attune to the wisdom of the body and mobilise your innate potential for growth and healing. Through the poses and stretches as well as using breathing and mindfulness meditation practices, you will learn to cultivate a deeper, kinder, more resilient and conscious connection with your body and mind.

There is a strong focus on working compassionately with tension, stress, pain and physical or psychological limitations. Mindful Yoga helps us to become more embodied and at home in our body. It combines Hatha (classical) yoga, elements of stretch therapy and mindful movement and is trauma sensitive.

About your teacher

The director of Simply Mindful, Megan Layton, will be your teacher. Megan is a trained and recognised trauma sensitive yoga teacher and therapist with extensive experience in trauma therapy and somatic movement.

She is also a mental health social worker who works with a very broad range of people, from CEOs to students. She worked for over 15 years with acute trauma (in a torture trauma rehabilitation service) and has a deep interest in helping people to heal and feel at home in their bodies and to grow in vitality and health no matter what challenges they are facing.

Directions: Parking is available on Bancroft street or in the church car park (St Brigid's) next door to the Gathering Place. Entry to the church carpark is off Wilshire St. Please don't park in the driveway unless you need special access or have mobility issues. There is a pathway from the church carpark to the Gathering Place driveway. There is a bike rack located at the side of the building halfway down the driveway. If joining online, please log on 5 minutes early to settle in.
