A free event for a more mindful Canberra! You’re invited to unplug from devices, slow down, and sample mindful practices like yoga, meditation, and meditative drawing. How would it feel to reconnect with yourself, with others, and with the world around you?

There is no cost for this event, but please register so we know how many to cater for.

When was the last time you left your devices behind, slowed down, and simplified life for a few hours? In our frantic, noisy, and often overwhelming world, Unplug Day offers the rare chance to breathe, centre yourself, and savour the joy of simply being present.

This free community event invites people of all ages and experience levels to explore gentle practices designed to calm the mind, nurture the body, and connect with others. Whether you're curious about mindfulness or looking for a moment of rest, you're warmly welcome to come and go as you please.

The space will be filled with low-key opportunities to experience:

  • Yoga and guided meditation – drop-in sessions for all levels
  • Meditative drawing – slow, mindful art for creativity and calm
  • Social space – enjoy a cuppa in the dining room or garden (weather permitting), knit or crochet, or simply share quiet conversation
  • Mindful morning tea – nourishing winter warmers like chai, hot chocolate, mulled wine, and comforting soups

You don’t need to bring anything, wear anything special, or have any experience. Just bring yourself.

Even brief experiences of mindfulness and yoga have been shown to reduce stress, improve focus, and boost emotional wellbeing. One of the first things many people notice when beginning these practices is how ordinary moments begin to feel more vivid, beautiful, and meaningful. Gratitude grows, and a deeper sense of presence begins to emerge.

Come unplug, slow down, and reconnect—with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
