Caitlin Westropp-Evans first discovered mindfulness meditation in 2014, after reading a few compelling articles about its many benefits. Curious, she began using the Headspace and Smiling Mind apps during her daily train commute from Redfern to Parramatta. The impact of this simple practice was unexpectedly profound—and it sparked a commitment that has continued ever since.
After returning to her hometown of Canberra a few years later, Caitlin discovered Simply Mindful and began exploring the rich variety of courses on offer. Inspired by the depth and quality of the teaching, she deepened her practice through several one-week silent retreats. These longer periods of stillness and reflection confirmed for her that mindfulness was more than a useful habit—it was something she wanted to place at the centre of her life.
Caitlin has since trained as a Lifeline Crisis Supporter, completed the Level 1 MBSR Teacher Training through the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australia, and is in the process of shifting her professional focus toward people and wellbeing. In 2024, she also became a mother—an experience that continues to challenge and enrich her mindfulness practice in unexpected ways.
She doesn’t know exactly where this path will lead, but is deeply enjoying the ongoing journey of living more mindfully, and learning more about how we function—individually and collectively—with compassion and awareness.
