Our small team is taking a “mindful pause” from Friday December 20, 2024 to Monday January 13, 2025. We’re disconnecting and having a break from devices so we can return fresh for Term 1 programs!
No emails or voicemails will be checked during that time, but please rest assured that we will respond to you once we return.
Reflecting on 2024
This was a year of many changes and adventures, here are a few of the highlights.
Mindful Community Day
In February, this open day of mindfulness & community allowed visitors to experience a range of mindfulness meditation and yoga sessions from our programs. It was a bit like a retreat, but without the silence. Participants enjoyed the art exhibition, the beautiful garden and a delicious morning tea. We hired professional photographers to document the event. This allowed us to replace the rather generic stock images we’d been using on the website and social media with warm, intimate, genuine images of our community.
7 Day Retreat
In October, visiting meditation teacher Victor von der Heyde led the 7 day retreat for the second time, with the support of Simply Mindful teachers. Retreat participants came from near and far. Feedback included, “I loved the retreat and loved the teacher, managers, food, yogis, accommodation, and facilities. I was very inspired by all of it, and felt very joyful and appreciative.”
Gardening Bees
These seasonal gatherings began over a year ago and have now become recurring events.
Farewells and welcomes
This year Anthony left the Simply Mindful teaching staff when he was appointed a Judge of the Local Court of the Northern Territory, sitting in Mparntwe/Alice Springs.
We welcomed Paul as a new teacher, and he has been skilfully facilitating the Graduate Practice Groups.
Thank you to our team and community
Thanks to all our part time team members Antonia, Lesley, and Jeannette for the work they put into making things run smoothly behind the scenes. From showing prospective hirers around the Gathering Place, to helping set up for retreats and art shows, liaising with tradies and media professionals, responding to student queries, managing online registrations and payments, maintaining the website, marketing events, and many more tasks, there are a lot of moving parts for our small team to wrangle.
A special thank you to Brian our handyman for volunteering his time and expertise.
Thanks to Jenni, a long-time member of our community with a green thumb who facilitated Gardening Bees.
And big gratitude to all those in our community who have helped pack up or set up, volunteered their unique skills, or simply pitched in where needed.
We wish you a peaceful end of year and look forward to reconnecting in 2025.
